Open Vascular Procedures
The following procedures are performed at the hospital.
Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA)
Surgical procedure where the patient’s carotid artery is opened and the plaque that is causing a blockage is removed and the artery is closed up.
Open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
Open surgical procedure where the patient’s aortic aneurysm is repaired in an open fashion. Reserved for patients with aneurysm not amenable to EVAR.
Aortobifemoral bypass
Surgical procedure where blockages in the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries are bypassed to get blood flow to the legs.
Lower extremity bypasses
Procedure performed using the patient’s vein or a synthetic graft to bypass blockages in the lower extremities.
Mesenteric bypass
Procedure to bypass blockages in the celic or superior mesenteric artery, that is causing abdominal pain and weight loss.
Repair of vascular trauma
Surgical repair of injured or clotted arteries and veins after a traumatic accident.
Amputations of the lower extremities
In patients with gangrene or pain in severe peripheral vascular disease and diabetes.
Creation of dialysis access
Surgical placement of a dialysis graft or fistula for use for dialysis.
